The ghetto, poverty, race, money, class, education, stereotypes, identity, brick buildings, grit and grime, immigration, scrubs, thugs, ect… Are things are constantly on my mind. I always feel like I gotta represent where I come from. It’s the type of thing you don’t see on TV except for maybe “The Wire”, but it’s not enough. I can’t stand hip-hop now a days because I can’t relate to it. There’s no mansions or fancy cars in my city. I felt like ranting after passing by MTV and seeing this

After sighing I changed the channel to Fuse and saw something that felt a little closer to home. I thought, “Well at least this is sorta ghetto, someone is somewhat representing”. To my surprise it’s the new Chili Peppers video. Now this video is still not real enough, the people still seem too stylish and fake, in the real ghettos, most people dress cheap and alike. Still, something seems wrong when a rock video is more real than a rap video. Maybe it’s just me. Oh, before anyone cries hypocrisy when they see some of my recent artworks. Let me just say they’re not my ideas. Take a look at my Union City illustration and my Batman comic pages to get a better idea of my vision. I hope to make better examples in the future. Keep looking out.
